I know how scary it can be to create change, and I also know it’s possible.

I believe, in order to be well, we need security, the ability to enact choice and agency in our lives, a sense of belonging to ourselves and a broader community, and hope. I’m here to help you cultivate those elements in your life.

Through our work together, it is my greatest desire that you will become a more vital, confident, and creative version of yourself. You will also develop greater acceptance of both yourself and others, learn to feel and express your feelings, and cultivate skills to cope more successfully with life. Therapy also offers both the opportunity to find new meaning in your life and a safe environment where you can connect with parts of yourself that you may have lost or forgotten.

At its best, therapy is a relationship characterized by warmth, trust, and compassionate understanding. In our sessions, it is always my intention for you to feel optimistic, curious, hopeful and safe.

Through our work together, it is my sincerest hope that you will be able to:

  • Become your best, healthiest, and most well self;

  • Know yourself and be able to live in ways that feel authentic to you;

  • Create a life that aligns with your values and fully embraces all of who you are;

  • Stop limiting yourself to what the dominant culture expects of you and step into what you truly desire and need for yourself instead;

  • Be an agent for change in your own life and, wherever possible, turn what you envision for yourself into reality;

  • Remain hopeful, even when your life and the modern world feels overwhelming;

  • And live with integrity and authenticity at the core of your decision making.

Perhaps the most common experience reported by clients I have worked with is a renewed sense of hope and a new perspective on life.

I am here to help you come to know your authentic self, and then take action to move your life in the direction of your truth.

Working collaboratively, we will identify your concerns, identify goals, and take action. Your unique life experiences will be central to our work at all times. I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and effective therapeutic experience for all my clients.

My approach to creating change in your life blends the pragmatic and the bold. I will hold the reality of your situation with you, while also believing in and reminding you of your potential. I can get into the nitty gritty of problem solving, and I’ll support you to trust yourself and your vision.

Here is my commitment to you:

I will always be in your corner.
I will be your greatest champion.
I will believe in you, and in your capacity to do hard things.

I may be the right fit for you if:

  • You are moving through a life transition or significant change;

  • You feel disconnected from yourself and want to come to know yourself once more;

  • You have clear goals and a vision for your life but you’re feeling stuck;

  • You’re ready to move past the “shoulds” and create a life that works for you instead;

  • You find yourself consistently pulled in too many directions or too much caretaking, and you want to turn energy toward caring for yourself instead;

  • You need help reducing anxiety, stress, or fear;

  • You want to feel your feelings and learn how to express your emotions;

  • You’re grappling with your own mortality and you need someone to dive into the trenches of those existential questions with you;

  • You have a history of trauma and need support in processing what has happened;

  • You deeply crave a sense of belonging and community in your life and you want help cultivating that type of connection.

While the work we do together in a session sets the foundation for change, the work you do outside the session is important to sustaining that change and developing new skills. I’ll ensure you have the clarity and capacity to continue the work we do in session throughout the week.

Please note: I conduct all my therapy sessions online. Online therapy has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy. When you attend therapy online, you get to remain in the familiarity and privacy of your own home. Many people find this to be an added comfort and convenience when accessing therapy. Easy to access user-friendly platforms mean that we can connect online with ease, from the comfort of your own couch.

FAQs

  • My fee is based on guidelines recommended by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association and is consistent with other therapists in my profession. I offer a sliding scale fee that can be discussed on a case-by-case basis. We will discuss this in our free consultation meeting.

  • Daytime, evening and limited weekend appointments are available, between the hours of 10:00am and 7:00pm.

    Appointments are usually scheduled once a week, or once every two weeks according to your needs, preferences, and resources.

  • Payment is accepted by eTransfer at the beginning of each session. A receipt will be provided following payment, and may be submitted for reimbursement to an insurance carrier, if applicable.

  • Missed appointments which are not canceled at least 24 hours prior will be billed in full. If an appointment needs to be canceled or rescheduled, please provide as much notice as possible.

  • The BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) does not cover therapists.

    Some (but not all) extended health plans will cover fees. Please ask your insurance benefits plan representative if they cover the fees of a Registered Clinical Counsellor or a Canadian Clinical Counsellor and if so, for how much per session and per year. If they do, you can submit my receipts to them for reimbursement.

    If you don’t have Extended Health you may wish to collect your receipts and submit them as an income tax deduction, under “Medical Expenses”.
